
William Russell is an experienced healthcare executive with a track record of successfully leading complex rural health systems. In these roles, he has overseen strategic development, physician enterprise, clinical quality, operations, population health management, and state and national advocacy. He also engaged in extensive board development, education, and recruitment.
Mr. Russell has developed collaborative relationships between large, competing health systems in Michigan. He developed a medical school affiliation with Western Michigan School of Medicine to bring third-year medical students into the Three Rivers, Michigan community. Mr. Russell provided strategic leadership to establish a joint operating company between rural health systems which improved access, reduced cost, and improved quality. Mr. Russell has worked for QHR, HCA, and LifePoint Health System in executive leadership roles in multiple states. In these roles, he successfully developed several new service lines to include an acute inpatient rehabilitation program, a neonatal intensive care unit, an expanded emergency room, including a chest pain unit, a cardiac rehabilitation program, and a series of Medicaid prenatal care centers. He also provided leadership to eight major construction projects totaling $235 million.
He received his Masters of Science in Health Administration from the University of Colorado in Denver, a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Eastern Washington University, and an Associates of Science in Nursing from Yakima Valley College.
